What is ECU Remapping?
Your car's ECU decides how much boost, fuel and ignition advance the engine gets at every moment. Manufacturers set it up to suit every market, every fuel and every driver at once, so most engines leave the factory with power in reserve.
ECU remapping rewrites those settings for your car. At JTK Remapping every remap is custom: we read the software from your car, adjust it to your engine and what you want from it, and write it back. Nothing is taken off a shelf, and we measure the car on our dyno before and after, so you see what it gained.
What the Dyno Shows Us
Our dyno is in-house and all-wheel drive, so front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive and 4x4 cars are all measured properly. On the rollers we:
- Measure and verify power gains in real time
- Fine-tune the map for the best performance
- Check temperatures and pressures stay safe
- Confirm the fuel economy improvements
- Test how the car drives under different conditions
Petrol, Diesel and Automatic Cars
A turbo petrol usually gains the most power, and a remap sharpens the throttle and fills in the mid-range. A diesel gains torque, which you feel when overtaking, pulling a trailer or climbing a hill in a high gear, and it often uses less fuel doing it. If fuel economy matters most, ask about an economy remap.
Automatic and dual-clutch gearboxes have their own computer, and it can hold back the extra torque a remap adds. DSG/TCU remapping sets the gearbox up to match, with quicker shifts as a bonus.
ECU Remapping Stages
