Privacy Policy

Who we are

JTK Remapping, Youghal Rd, Curraheen Commons, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, X35 XT71, decides how the personal data described here is used. That makes us its controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

You can reach us about your data at info@jtkremapping.com or on 087 744 2633.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry through the remap calculator, the enquiry form or the contact form, we collect:

  • your name, email address and phone number;
  • your vehicle's details, such as its make, model, engine and gearbox;
  • your registration number, if you choose to give it;
  • your message and the service you ask about.

When you look up a vehicle in the remap calculator, only the vehicle's details are used. We send no personal data to our vehicle data provider.

If you book work with us, we keep a record of the job: your contact details, your vehicle, the work done and what you paid.

If you pay a booking deposit online, Stripe handles the payment. Your card details never reach us.

If you call, email or message us on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram or TikTok, we keep what you send us so we can reply. Those platforms' own privacy policies also apply.

When you use the website, Google Analytics collects information about your visit, such as the pages you view, your device and browser, your approximate location and how you found us. The Cookies Policy has the details.

To protect the forms from spam, Cloudflare Turnstile checks your browser before an enquiry is sent. We also count attempts using a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address and email address. We never store the IP address itself, and these counts are deleted within 24 hours.

Why we use it and our legal basis

  • To reply to your enquiry, give you a quote and book your vehicle in. These are steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
  • To carry out the work you book and keep a record of it. This is needed for our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)), and we must keep accounting records by law (Article 6(1)(c)).
  • To keep the website secure and stop spam and abuse. This is in our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
  • To understand how people use the website so we can improve it. This is in our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

We use these providers to run the website and the business. Each one handles your data only to provide its service to us.

  • Hetzner Online GmbH hosts the website and its database in Germany.
  • Cloudflare manages our domain, runs the security check on our forms (Turnstile) and stores the website's images and encrypted backups of its database.
  • Postmark sends the emails the website generates, such as passing your enquiry to us.
  • Microsoft 365 runs our email, so the replies we send from Outlook pass through it.
  • Our own automation system helps us sort and reply to new enquiries.
  • Google Analytics, provided by Google, gives us statistics about how the website is used.
  • MyReviews (myreviews.ie) shows our Google reviews on the website. Its widget loads in your browser, so it receives your IP address and browser details.
  • Google Maps shows our location on the Contact page once you open the map.
  • Stripe processes booking deposits paid online.

We may also share personal data where the law requires it, for example with the Revenue Commissioners or An Garda Síochána.

Transfers outside the EEA

Some of these providers are based in the United States or may access data from outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries are kept for 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted.
  • Customer job records and payment records are kept for 6 years, for our accounts and tax.
  • Website database backups are deleted automatically, daily backups after 35 days and others after 180 days.
  • Google Analytics data is deleted automatically at the end of the retention period set in our Google Analytics account.

Your rights

Under data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your data;
  • object to our use of your data where we rely on legitimate interests;
  • ask for the data you gave us in a format you can take to someone else.

To use any of these rights, email info@jtkremapping.com. We reply within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at www.dataprotection.ie. We would appreciate the chance to sort it out with you first.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the way we use personal data changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
